Brand Panel Background and Tagline
The brand panel is the coloured area of the login page that carries your logo and a short tagline. You can give it a background image and change the tagline, so the first page a customer sees when signing in feels like part of your store.
Add a background image#
- Go to WooCommerce > Account Portal > Appearance, section 4, Logo & login page.
- In the Auth Brand Background row, click Upload / Select Image.
- Choose an image from the Media Library (or upload one) and confirm.
- Click Save Settings.
To go back to a plain colour, click Remove next to the preview and save.

How the image is shown#
- The image covers the whole brand panel (scaled to fill, centred, never repeated), so the edges may be cropped on narrow or tall screens. Keep the important part of the picture in the middle.
- A 60% overlay of your Primary Color is laid on top so the logo and tagline stay readable. The image therefore always looks tinted in your brand colour.
- Without an image, the panel is filled with your Primary Color (the preview says “No image. The primary colour is used.”), with two soft decorative circles.
Where the image appears in each layout#
| Layout | Background image |
|---|---|
| Split | Fills the brand panel beside the form. Hidden on phones, where the panel is hidden. |
| Centered card | Fills the whole page behind the card, on every screen size. |
| Full background | Fills the whole page behind the logo, tagline and card, on every screen size. |
| Minimal | Not used (there is no brand panel). |
Use a large landscape image (a product, workshop or lifestyle photo works well) and compress it before uploading: it loads on every login page view.
Change the brand panel colour#
The panel colour is your Primary Color in section 2, Brand colours. That colour is also used for buttons, active menu items and focus rings across the portal.
To give the panel its own colour without changing the rest:
- In section 3, Fine-tune colours, choose Pick colours.
- Under Light mode and/or Dark mode, find the Auth / Login Page group and set Brand panel background.
- Save.
This lets you use, for example, a darker panel in dark mode. Leave the field empty to keep the primary colour.
The Brand panel background colour and the background image both style the same panel. When you set a panel colour for a mode, that colour takes over the panel in that mode, so use either a picked colour or an image, not both.
Change the tagline#
The tagline is the short line under the logo in the brand panel. Its default is “Your account, your way.”
- Go to WooCommerce > Account Portal > Content & Text.
- Edit Auth Page Tagline (“Subtitle on the brand panel of the login/register page.”).
- Click Save Settings.

Where the tagline shows#
- Split: in the brand panel on computers and tablets (wider than 768px).
- Full background: beside the card on screens wider than 1024px.
- Centered card and Minimal: not shown.
The tagline is plain text: HTML tags are removed when you save. Keep it short, one line reads best.
Translating the tagline#
On a multilingual site (WPML or Polylang), the Content & Text tab shows a language switcher. Pick a language and fill in Auth Page Tagline for it. A language left empty falls back to the main language’s text. With WPML String Translation, the tagline is also registered as a string you can translate there.
If you keep the default text “Your account, your way.”, it is shown translated automatically in the portal’s built-in languages. Once you change it, your text is shown exactly as typed.
Hiding the tagline#
Leaving Auth Page Tagline empty brings back the default text rather than hiding it. To hide the tagline, add this CSS in Appearance, section 8, Advanced CSS:
.wap-auth-tagline {
display: none;
} Good to know#
- When you import settings in Export / Import, the background image is kept only when it is the same file on that site (for example a cloned staging site). On a different site the image is cleared, so pick it again.
- The logo shown in the panel is your Dark mode logo, or your light-mode logo in white. See Login Page Layouts.
- A Brand theme made with AI (section 3, Brand theme with AI) can also colour the login page.
