Installing WC Account Portal

2 min readUpdated October 31, 2026

WC Account Portal installs like any WordPress plugin from a zip file. Once it is active, your WooCommerce account page becomes the portal straight away, using the default design, so you can see the result before changing anything.

RequirementMinimum
WordPress7.1
WooCommerce7.0
PHP8.3
LicenseAn active WC Account Portal license for automatic updates

WordPress checks the PHP version before it activates the plugin. On older PHP it shows a message instead of activating, so your site keeps working.

Install the plugin#

  1. Download the plugin zip from your account at wcaccountportal.com (the link is also in your purchase confirmation email).
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the zip file and click Install Now.
  4. Click Activate Plugin.

You can also upload the unzipped wc-account-portal folder to /wp-content/plugins/ by FTP or SFTP and activate it on the Plugins screen.

After activating#

  1. Go to WooCommerce > Account Portal. This is the plugin’s settings page.
  2. Open your account page (usually /my-account/) in a private browser window. You see the portal’s login page. Log in as a test customer to see the account area.
  3. Activate your license on the License tab so you get automatic updates. See Activating Your License.
  4. Follow Quick Start: Set Up Your Portal in 10 Minutes to add your logo, colours and text.

Note

The settings page is under the WooCommerce menu, not in Settings. It needs the manage_woocommerce capability, so Shop Managers can use it too.

Moving from another site#

If you have already set up the portal on another site (for example a staging site), use Export / Import to copy your setup instead of doing it again. Logos, the login background image and the CAPTCHA keys are not copied to a different site: pick and enter them again there. See Exporting and Importing Your Settings.

Deactivating#

Deactivating the plugin brings back WooCommerce’s normal My Account page with your theme’s design. Your portal settings stay in the database, so everything is back as it was when you activate the plugin again.

Uninstalling#

When you delete the plugin from the Plugins screen, it removes its own data:

  • the portal settings and your uploaded custom icons
  • its cached data and temporary notices
  • the profile photos customers uploaded through the portal, and the user data that links them to the customers

On multisite, this is done for every site in the network.

To keep everything (for example before reinstalling), add this line to wp-config.php before you delete the plugin:

define( 'WAP_KEEP_DATA', true );
Warning

Deleting the plugin without WAP_KEEP_DATA cannot be undone. If you might want your setup back, download a settings file on the Export / Import tab first.
